Now read my biography below:

I was born on Feb. 15, 1951 as the eldest and only boy in a family of five children to Arumugam and Suppamal. My school days were with St. Gabriel, Pasar Road English School and Datuk Lokman in Jalan Kg. Pandan.

For most of my working life, I was with HSBC Bank, until I retired. In 1971 at a young age of 20, i was betrothed to V. Anjali Devi and we were blessed with four children.

I started my vocation in music at a very tender age, with a band called ”Honeymoon” alongside Selva, Peter John Chelliah, Kaneyson, Ayavoo Suppiah, A.J. Jaya, Manian (EPF), and bandleader Brutus Jayabalan, somewhere in 1964 in Kampung Pandan Indian Settlement, Kuala Lumpur.

After a few years, I was already playing regualy in many functions with the band, for the late Mr. Gurdial Singh (MIC). I joined Isai Thendral music band, and later Isai Malar, whereI was for around 20 years. Finally, I joined Kalaimagal Arts and toured all over the country, including Singapore almost weekly.

While at his peak,I was known to be one of the best flutist in the country. In 1998 I was invited by Dato’ M.G. Pandithan to join his 40 member musical entourage to perform in India, which was a tremendous success.

I have also performed numerous times for Radio Malaysia, and I will always be grateful to the head of Radio Malaysia Chief (Indian section) Mr. R. Balakrishnan, and others like Kamala Desinge, Thulasi Krishnan and Leela Balasubramanian for their support. I have also given background music with my own band called Perambalam Music Band, for barathanatyam performances in Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, France, Singapore, all over Malaysia and India. I even had to cancel programmes in South Africa, due to other commitments.

I have cut numerous Tamil albums and have performed with popular Malay personalities, like Sharifah Aini, DJ Dave and M. Sharif and others during their time. I has performed with Tabla Anggapan and Sitar Maheswaran Om with the Sabthaswara band.

In 1984, in a great stage show organized by Ovier Chandran M. Kumar under the Madhuri Arts Banner, I was conferred the ‘Maestro’ title by the Honorable Datuk Seri Dr. S. Samy Vellu. During other functions, I also given the titles of ‘Venu Ganamani’, and ‘Kulal Venthan’ and I have also received the PPN award from ‘His Highness The Agong of Malaysia’ in 1998.
